Baku has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters. Pack comfortable walking shoes, lightweight clothing for the day, and an extra layer for evenings, especially if visiting in the cooler months. Consider modest clothing when visiting religious sites in Old Baku.
The currency in Azerbaijan is the Azerbaijani Manat (AZN). You can exchange your currency for AZN at the airport upon arrival or at banks in Baku. Most major credit cards are also accepted at hotels and larger restaurants, but it's always good to have some local currency on hand for smaller purchases and transportation.
The official language of Azerbaijan is Azerbaijani. However, many people in the tourism industry, particularly in Baku, also speak English and Russian. It might be helpful to learn a few basic phrases in Azerbaijani, but it's not essential for navigating the tour.
